Thanks for a community’s support …

Dear Editor:
On behalf of our family, I would like to thank all of those who have lifted our spirits with prayers, calls, cards and meals as our oldest son, Drew, deals with a brain tumor. You have fed our souls and our bodies.

Drew is doing amazingly well after surgery on June 5 to remove the malignant mass. He walked out of the hospital on June 7, and with the exception of a neat row of staples along his suture, he was normal in every way.

We were blessed to see him back at work on WIS-TV on June 23, as we await his trip to Duke on June 26 to see what his next step will be in the treatment.

This is not a journey that we have chosen, but as we know, God gives us the resources to sustain us through our trials. The outpouring of love and grace has in itself been a miracle, as we have received words of hope and encouragement from across the globe. We have been given opportunities and blessings that we never would have received had we not gone through these times.

So now, these verses from the book of Romans have a special meaning for us. “Know, in all these things, we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
