Summerton’s Homecoming Festival

Dear Editor:
Summerton’s Homecoming committee will celebrate its eighth annual festival on July 4 beginning at 5 p.m.

Why is it called the homecoming? Back in the 1960’s, many southerners migrated north for economic reasons. Many who traveled north have been retuning home each year to visit their beloved hometown of Summerton and the roots they planted here.

As the years passed, there has been a decrease in the activities for the home comers, other than the joy of seeing family members and old friends. This year the Summerton Homecoming committee would like for your company, church, organization, and business to participate in our festival and events.

Come enjoy with us a day of fun, games, food, and music entertainment. For additional information please contract any of the festival committee members: Betty Robinson, (803) 485-8640 or Geneva Pearson, (803) 773-5381.

Sincerely,
Summerton’s Homecoming Committee
