Thanks for the many volunteers …
Dear Editor:
Another Habitat for Humanity Author Luncheon has come and gone and it was a glowing success.
None of it, from selling tickets, to decorating tables to preparing the delicious meal, would have been possible without the many volunteer hours that were given for this wonderful project.
We would first like to thank our financial sponsors who helped to make the Luncheon a successful fundraiser for Habitat: Jim and Nell Black, The Bank of Clarendon, Land, Parker, Welch Law Firm, Rep. Cathy Harvin and Santee Lakes Realty.
Secondly, we must thank our hard working volunteers: Nancy Andrews, Lynden Anthony, Mary Arlen, Sara Ann Aycock, Autumn Banning, Nell Black, Stephanie Black, Evelyn Blascak, Paula Boudreau, Lana Branch, Horace Browder, Hope and Ike Brunson, Archie Craft, Charlie and Sharon Cramer, Cleve and Carol Dowell, Kristi Downer, Wanda Erickson, Lynn Evans, Shea Failmezger, John Flack, Dobby Gallagher, Cathy Gilbert, Tad Graham, Dawn Griffith, Ursula Horn, Kristen and Leah Keels, Lamar Kennedy, Howard and Monika King, Betty Lawrence, Nick and Carolyn Meistrell, Janet Meleney, Pat Paul, Debra Quilling, Carolyn Rearick, Shelley Rhodes, Robin Shultz, Bill Smith, Jim and Betty Wellock, Edie Willhoit, Mary Wilson and Martha Yarborough.
These businesses and groups were also instrumental in making the luncheon a success, either by their donations or their manpower: Catering for All Occasions, Clarendon Chamber of Commerce, F.E. DuBose Career Center/Culinary Arts Students, First Baptist Church, Manning IGA, Manning UMC, The Manning Times, Manning High School Student Government, The Sumter Item and Wen Lily’s.
Lastly, our table decorations, designed by Autumn Banning, will be auctioned at the Habitat Silent Auction at the Jr. Chamber Oyster Roast on Feb. 24. They were made possible by the following businesses: Anderson’s Pharmacy, Bank of Clarendon, C & A Carpet and Tile, Chamber of Commerce, Clarendon Exterminating, DuRant Insurance, Farmer’s Telephone, Hines Furniture, IGA, Inspired By, Jackie’s Café at Studio 1916, The Manning Times, Maxway, Neighborhood Thrift Store, Odom’s Auction, Party World, Studio 1916 and Three French Hens.
It is plain to see that it took a lot of people and lot of generosity to make this event the success that it continues to be and we are so very grateful.
We plan to have a second luncheon this fall … we hope to see you there!
Sincerely,
Marie Land
