William C. Pollard Sr.

William Clifton Pollard Sr., 70, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007, at his home.

Bill was born Feb. 11,1937, a son of the late Mamie Browder Pollard and the late Joel Allen Pollard. He was raised in Clarendon County. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a retired carpenter with Marion Amerson Construction Co.

He is survived by his daughter, Tammie Dean Pollard Mitchum of Sumter; two sons, William C. “Cliff” Pollard Jr. and Michael “Mike” Allen Pollard, both of Sumter; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Wilbur Pollard of Scranton; and two sisters, Earline Hickman and Martha Evans, both of Cades.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Leviner Pollard, and three brothers, J.T., Jessie and Joe Pollard.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007, in the chapel of Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with the Revs. Joseph Morgan and Clyde Bagnal officiating.

Burial as in Evergreen Memorial Park.

Pallbearers were Shawn Pollard, Johnny Pollard, Mark Hickman, Harry Hickman, General Hickman, Timothy Pollard, Kevin Hickman and James Hickman.

Honorary pallbearers were Sambo Evans, Joey Pollard and David Pollard.

Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and Crematory of Sumter was in charge of the arrangements.
