Barbara Johnson
Barbara Johnson, 49, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007, at her residence in Clarendon County.
Born July 15, 1958 in Newark, N.J., she was a daughter of Franklin Johnson Sr. and the late Bertha Johnson. She received her high school diploma from Barringer High School in Newark. Barbara was employed by Green Hill Retirement Home, where she worked until she relocated to South Carolina. She gained employment at Tuomey Regional Medical Center in Sumter and later at Comfort Inn.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Theresa Lynelle Johnson, and a brother, Albertis Lawson.
Those left to grow from her love are her beloved father, Franklin Johnson Sr. of the home; two sons, Rodrick Johnson of Newark and Darrel (Tesha) Hall of Orange, N.J.; a brother, Franklin (Patricia) Johnson Jr. of Sumter; two sisters, Celestine Bethea and Karima Abdul-Latif; 10 grandchildren, Darrell Jr., Nzingha, Eeyannah, Durian, Daria, Jahir, Taliya, Gregory, Symone and Essence (Noodles); a lifetime friend, Barbara Carr; a devoted uncle, Tyrone “Junior” Lawson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Barbara Johnson were held on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007, at Historic Liberty Hill AME Church with the Rev. Dr. Melvin Jerome Capers, pastor, officiating.
Burial followed in Ivory Cemetery in Davis Station.
Summerton Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements.
