Lula Mae S. Hilton
Evangelist Lula Mae Simmons Hilton, of Manning and formerly of Miami, Fla., died Friday, Nov. 30, 2007, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007, in Miami.
Burial followed in Dade Memorial Park in Miami.
A native of Manning, she was the widow of Herman Hilton Sr., daughter of the late Deacon Cap and Amelia Simmons and the birth daughter of Sue Whack Thompson. Being reared in a Christian home, she joined Fellowship Baptist Church at an early age. Upon relocating back to Manning, she joined The Master’s Place Ministries, where she was the mother of the church. She was educated in the public schools of Clarendon County.
She is survived by her four sons, Herman Hilton Jr., Lucius (Kimberly) Hilton, Terry Hilton and Tyron (Cora) Hilton; four daughters, Minister Lillian (David) Wright of Manning, Barbara Jackson, Sharon (Arthur) Pedican and Janet (Walter Jr.) Bethune; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Christopher King’s Funeral Home, 703 Old York Road, Chester, was in charge of the arrangements.
