Francis H. Dukes

Francis Heyward “Frank” Dukes, age 83, died Dec. 4, 2007, in a Florence hospital after an illness.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2007, at Turbeville Southern Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery, directed by Floyd Funeral Home.

Born in Clarendon County, he was a son of the late Malcolm Fay Dukes and Leila Amelia Coker Dukes. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and a retired farmer. He was a member of Turbeville Southern Methodist Church, where he served as a former trustee.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Roberta Gowdy Dukes, and a granddaughter, Misty Lynn Dukes Gladden.

Surviving are his wife, Mildred Thornhill Johnson Dukes of Turbeville; a daughter, Wendy (Al) Prescott of Holly Hill: two sons, Robert F. (Ana) Dukes of Shiloh and Marion W. (Sandra) Dukes of Turbeville; two stepdaughters, Debbie (James) Lee of Scranton and Lynn Hux of Florence; a stepson, Steve Johnson of Shiloh; a sister, Eva Mae (Dewey) Sims of Florence; a brother, Malcolm (Teresa) Dukes of Turbeville; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Turbeville Southern Methodist Church.
