Ronald Howard Scott

PAXVILLE – Ronald Howard “Willie” Scott Sr., 59, died Sunday, December 2, 2007, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence.

Born Feb. 20, 1948, in Clarendon County, he was a son of the late Richard Manning Scott Sr., and the late Gladys Kolb Scott. He was a retired painter, and a member of Paxville Baptist Church.

Surviving are a son, Ronald Howard “Ron” (Marie) Scott Jr. of Manning; five brothers, DeLeon (Gayle) Scott of Summerville, Wayne A. Scott, Sr., and Floyd L. (Marie) Scott of Paxville, Leslie U. (Becky) Scott of Charleston, and S. Stanley (Susan) Scott Sr. of Santee; three sisters, Carrie Lee (Louie) Ardis of Paxville, Gladys E. (Bob) Burke of Santee, and S. Annette (Buck) Ridgill of Sumter; and six grandchildren. He is also survived by lifelong friend and former spouse, Sue Haley.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard Manning Scott Jr., Wallace Hampton Scott, and Everette Nathaniel Scott; and a sister, Myrtle McRee Poston.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday Dec. 4, 2007, in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home in Manning, with the Rev. Dale Turner officiating, assisted by the Rev. Mark Bishop.

Burial followed in Paxville Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Edward Scott, Barry Ardis, Stewart Scott Jr., Gilbert Hodge, Randall Rowell Sr. and Leon Graham.

Honorary pallbearers were the nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Paxville Baptist Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 5005, Paxville, S.C. 29102 or to New Start Community Church of the Nazarene Building Fund, 4686 J. W. Rhames Road, Manning, S.C. 29102.

Stephens Funeral Home and Crematory of Manning was in charge of arrangements.
