Ethel H. Jones

KINGSTREE – Ethel Henry Jones, 82, widow of Rayford Jones, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2007, at Williamsburg Regional Hospital.

Born May 7, 1925, in Summerton, she was a daughter of the late Gilbert Henry and Willie Neal Henry. At an early age, she joined Elizabeth Baptist Church. She obtained her education in the public schools of Clarendon County and Jones Commercial School, Chicago, Ill. While in Chicago, she united her membership with South Park Baptist Church and was instrumental in the establishment of Universal Baptist Church in Chicago. She was employed for several years with General Classics Co. After her retirement, she returned to Summerton and reunited her membership with Elizabeth Baptist Church.

Survivors include two brothers, Charles Robert (Rose Ann) Henry and Eddie Lee Henry, both of Summerton; and two sisters, Elizabeth Simmons of Kingstree and Phyliss (John) Bardliving of Calumet, Ill.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007, at Elizabeth Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Ashley B. Vaughn officiating, assisted by the Rev. Dr. Willie T. Johnson and Bishop Dr. James L. Tindal.

Burial was in the church cemetery.

Fleming and DeLaine Funeral Home of Manning was in charge of services.
