Abraham Lawson

EWING, N.J. – Abraham “AC” Lawson, 64, husband of Lucille Watson Lawson, died Nov. 17, 2006, at Helen Flud Hospital, Trenton, N.J.

Born Oct. 3, 1942, in Summerton, he was a son of the late James Lawson and Emma Richardson Lawson Isreal and stepson of the late Frank Isreal. He attended the public schools of Clarendon County. Early in life, he was employed at Lawson’s Auto Service. After moving, he became employed with the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation in auto repair. Later he worked as a sewer treatment worker at New York City Department of Environmental Protection, where he retired in 2002.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille Watson Lawson; one son, Al; five daughters, Emma, Brenda, Laverne, Marlesa and Christine; five brothers, David of Columbia, Boston of Miami, Fla., Wash of Summerton, Bill from Brooklyn, N.Y., and Frank from Charlotte, N.C.; six sisters, Eartha Mae of Dallas, N.C., Mary of Charlotte, N.C., Deloris of Summerton, Margie of Summerton, Emma Jean of Bronx, N.Y., and Mary L. of Columbia; and 12 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, three stepbrothers and two stepsisters.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2006, at Santee AME Church in the North Santee community, Summerton, with the Rev. Silas Spann, pastor, officiating.

Burial was in the churchyard cemetery.

Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning was in charge of arrangements.
