Hazel L. Kroegel
Hazel Luree Kroegel, 88, of Manning, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2006, at the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston.
She was born May 16, 1918, to the late Clinton and Millie (Artz) Bush, Liberty Township, Johnstown, Ohio, and was a 1936 graduate of Etna High School. She was a former resident of the Johnstown-Pataskala-Reynoldsburg-Baltimore area for 85 years.
After 16 years, she retired from the Southwest Licking Local School District serving as a cook at Watkins Memorial High/Middle schools. She was an advisor of the Etna Sunny Sewers 4-H Club, member of the Etna Grange and the Basil Garden Club, and belonged to the Sew and Blow Group in Etna. She served as presiding judge and pollworker for many years for the Licking County Board of Elections.
She is survived by her son Jerry T. Kroegel of Summerton; daughter Virginia (Basil) Ramsey of the home; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Kroegel (whom she married in Basil, Ohio, on July 18, 1936); a son, Larry W. Kroegel; her brother and sister-in-law, Clyde E. and Dorothy E. Bush; sister and brother-in-law, Esther C. and Floyd J. Evans; and nephew, Claire Richard Evans.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Nov. 27, 2006, at Kauber-Miller Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Walls officiating.
Burial followed at Pataskala Cemetery.
