Virginia D. Rogers
Virginia Doughty Rogers, age 72, widow of Chappell Rogers, died Nov. 1, 2007, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center, Sumter.
She was born Dec. 6, 1934, in Manning, the daughter of the late Sam Doughty and Annie Mae Felder Doughty. She received her education in the public schools of Clarendon County. She accepted Christ as her Savior and joined Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the Missionary Board until her health failed. She was employed by Campbell Soup Co. for 25 years.
Two brothers preceded her in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Joyce Ann (Randolph) Servance of Manning; one son, Leroy Doughty of Manning; two brothers, Hartwell Doughty and Willie Earl Doughty, both of Manning; two sisters, Janie Muldrow and Alice Wade, both of Manning; three grandchildren reared as her own, Cory Servance, Maurice Servance and Veronica Servance, all of Manning; and one nephew she reared as her own, Jerome Muldrow of Manning; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services were held on Thursday , Nov. 8, 2007, at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, 105 Dinkins St., Manning, with the Rev. George P. Windley, pastor, officiating, assisting the Rev. Henry McCray and the Rev. Leroy McElveen.
Burial followed in the Biggers AME Church cemetery.
Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning was in charge of the arrangements.
