James W. Shobe

James William Shobe, 58, husband of Judy T. Shobe, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2007, in a Florence hospital.

He was born Dec. 2, 1948, in Cumberland, Md., to Rosa Leota Nycum Shobe and the late William Webster Shobe.

Mr. Shobe retired from Mack Trucks in 2001 after 31 years of service. He was a member of the United Auto Workers union. He moved to Manning in June 2006 from Greencastle, Md., and attended Emmanuel Baptist Church. He was an avid fisherman.

Surviving in addition to his wife of the home and his mother of Maugansville, Md., are daughters, Julie Shobe of Greencastle, Pa., and Jennifer Shobe of Hagerstown, Md.; a sister, Sheila Metzel of Maugansville; a brother, Doug Shobe of New Market, Md.; granddaughters, Jessica Shobe and Jayma Wharton; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by an infant brother.

A memorial service will be held in Maryland at a later date.

Cain Funeral Home of Florence was in charge of the arrangements.
