Willie Mae Oliver

Willie Mae “Sister” Oliver, 74, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2007, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center in Sumter.

Born April 6, 1933, in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Lizzie and Simon Andrews. She was united in holy matrimony to her loving and devoted husband, Cleophus “Herman” Oliver.

She was predeceased by four siblings, Moses Gaymon, Mary Brailsford, James Andrews and Hugh Conyers; and her mother-in-law whom she loved as a mother, Beatrice Oliver.

Mrs. “Sister” will be missed by all who knew her.

Those left to cherish her memory and grow from her love are her loving husband, Cleophus “Herman” Oliver of the home; two daughters, Helen (John) Briggs and Dorothy (Roger) Hilliard, both of Summerton; a son, George (Berdie) Green of Summerton; two sisters, Claydine Andrews and Susan Britton, both of New York City, N.Y.; three brothers, Dawson (Mary) Andrews of New Rochelle, N.Y., John (Tisha) Andrews of Manning and Robert (Susan) Junious of Sumter; three sisters-in-law, Bertha Thomas of Manning, Angeline Green of Sumter and Maxine Stinney of Washington D.C.; an aunt; five grandchildren, Brenda (Willie) Nelson of Sumter, Shanda (Randy) Oliver and Latosha (Harvey) Junious, both of Atlanta, Ga., Ronnie Hilliard and Latonya (Andrae) Gordon, both of Summerton; 11 great-grandchildren; two special friends, Ruth Riley of Pinewood and Julia Green of Summerton; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. “Sister” were held on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007, at Greater St. Phillips RUME Church with the Rev. Warren Hatcher, pastor, officiating.

Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Summerton Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements.
