Thamar Hill Sr.

BISHOPVILLE -- Thamar Hill Sr., 85, widower of Beulah Mae Galloway Hill, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center in Hartsville.

Born in Lee County, he was a son of the late James N. Hill and the late Maggie Watkins Hill.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was employed by S.C. Vocational Rehabilitation.

Survivors include three daughters, Thelma (Fred) Feagin and Catherine H. Miles, all of Hartsville, and Tracy G. (Chris) Barrineau of Turbeville; a son, Thamar (Peggy) Hill Jr. of Hartsville; two sisters, Ruby (Johnny) Grunza of Arkansas, and Joann (Chandler) Rogers of Sumter; a brother, J.T. (Ruby Lee) Hill of Bishopville; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Oct.30, 2007, in the Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Ryan Riley officiating.

Burial was in the Wells Cemetery.

Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home of Bishopville was in charge of arrangements.
