Leonard H. Rowell

Leonard Hinson Rowell, 68, husband of Hazel Martin Rowell, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007, at Providence Hospital in Columbia.

Born May 4, 1939, in Conway, he was a son of the late Gary L. and Mary Jane Harrelson Rowell and was first married to the late Eleanor Martin Rowell. Mr. Rowell was a retired general foreman for Santee Cooper and a member of Clarendon Church of God.

Surviving besides his wife of Summerton are a daughter, Terrie Rowell (the Rev. Derrick) Cutter of Columbia; two stepsons, Donnie Ligon and Wayne Dennis, both of Manning; six stepdaughters, Cathy Ann Dennis Smith, Wanda Wingate and Teresa Mason, all of Manning, Brenda Baxley of Hemingway, Marie Haselden of Johnsonville and Barbara Dorrell of Alcolu; four brothers, Donald M. (Libby) Rowell of Greenwood, Herbert L. Rowell of Manning, Wayne (Shelia) Rowell of Moncks Corner and Cecil M. (Debbie) Rowell of Alcolu; a grandson, Matthew C. Cutter; a granddaughter, Deanna A. Cutter; 19 step-grandchildren; and 10 step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Monday, Oct. 23, 2007, at Clarendon Church of God in Manning with the Revs. Ronald Newton, Richard Smith and Derrick Cutter officiating.

Burial followed in Clarendon Memorial Gardens in Manning.

Pallbearers were Michael, Chad, Gene and Adam Rowell, Rusty McGee and John Brewer.

Stephens Funeral Home and Crematory of Manning was in charge of the arrangements.
