Clairmont Goines
Clairmont “Dick” Goines, 60, husband of Knenite T. Goines, died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2007, at his home.
He was born May 18, 1947, in Clarendon County, a son of the late Deacon Blanding and Loree Smiling Goines.
He was educated in the public schools of Clarendon County. As a young person, he attended Bethesda Baptist Church. “Dick,” as he affectionately called, was employed with B.K. Montague until his health failed. Loving and kindhearted, he was a friend to everyone he met.
Survivors include his devoted wife, Knenite T. Goines; three daughters, Mischell Leneau, Emma Jane (Derrick) Anderson, both of Sumter, and Cindy Goines of the home; a brother, Roland (Ulease) Goines of Sumter; three sisters, Natherine Riley, Ardell Smiling and Louise (Robert) Wilson, all of Sumter; three sisters-in-law, Jessie Mae Goines of Sumter, Josephine McCray and Almatine Thompson of Manning; a brother-in-law, Albertus Conyers of Sumter; two grandsons reared in the home, Deonte and Devin Anderson; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Jack, Doris and Barney Goines, and three sisters, Lavica Mack, Hilda Wells and Ruby G. Conyers.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, at Bethesda Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy Graham, pastor, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Albertus Smiling, eulogist, Pastor Corey Thompson and Minister Vivian Pugh.
Burial was in Bethesda Cemetery.
Job’s Mortuary of Sumter was in charge of arrangements.
