Georgia W. Ballard

Georgia W. Ballard, 81, widow of Glenn Ray Ballard, died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2007, at Covenant Place in Sumter.

Born May 8, 1926, in Arnolds Park, Iowa, she was a daughter of the late Ford and Amelia Springer Wright. She was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Raleigh, N.C., and attended New Covenant Presbyterian Church in Manning.

Surviving are a daughter, Christine Edwards of Summerton; a son, Russell Ballard of Wilmington, N.C.; a brother, Ford Wright of Arnolds Park; and two grandchildren, Wade and Blake Edwards.

Funeral services were held on Friday, Oct. 26, 2007, in New Covenant Presbyterian Church in Manning with the Rev. Charlie Tyler officiating.

A graveside service was held on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, in Pinecrest Memorial Park, 12830 U.S. 70 West, Clayton, N.C. 27520.

Memorials may be made to the Children’s Tumor Foundation, 95 Pine St., 16th Floor, New York, N.Y. 10005, or to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, S.C. 29210.

Stephens Funeral Home and Crematory of Manning was in charge of the arrangements.
