Julius D. Allen

Julius D. Allen, 86, passed away peacefully in his sleep Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007, at Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia.

Born in Turbeville, he was the son of the late Thomas S. Allen and the late Viola Julia Thames Allen. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and was employed by the city of Sumter.

Survivors include five sons, Patrick Allen of Orlando, Fla., Wendell Allen of Kissimmee, Fla., Michael Allen of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Julius D. Allen Jr. of St. Cloud, Fla., and Steven Allen of Fort Pierce, Fla.; two daughters, Viola Wise of Fort Pierce and Bonnie Brown of Sacramento, Calif.; a sister, Ruth Lamb of Pamplico; a brother, Dexter Allen of Pamplico; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Oct.24, 2007, in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home Chapel.

Memorials may be made to Dorn VA Medical Center, 6439 Garners Ferry Road, Columbia, S.C. 29209.

Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter was in charge of the arrangements.
