Lelia Jones Spann

Lelia Jones Spann, 73, widow of Raymond Spann, died Oct. 4, 2007, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital, Manning.

Born Aug. 22, 1934, in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of Sara Caldwell Jones and the late William Jones. Her education was obtained in the public schools of Clarendon County and she was a member of Mount Zero Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Spann lived in New York City for several years and was employed with the garment industry in New York for approximately 25 years prior to her retirement.

Survivors besides her mother, Mary Jones of Manning, include one son, Raynard (Ethel) Spann of Manning; one sister, Diane Jones Hilliard of Bronx, N.Y.; her mother-in-law, Carrie Spann of Manning; one sister-in-law, Ester Briggs of Manning; one niece, Betty S(Scipio) malls of Georgetown; and one nephew, Vincent Hilliard of Bronx.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2007, at Mount Zero Missionary Baptist Church, S.C. 261, Manning, with the Rev. Henry K. Presley, the Rev. Johnnie Lawson and Evangelist Lillian Wright.
Burial was in the church cemetery.

Fleming and DeLaine Funeral Home and Chapel was in charge of services.
