Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament Chairman Kirk Salek and Chamber Executive Director Dawn Griffith look over prizes and giveaways for next week’s tournament. Call the Chamber at 435-4405 to register.

It’s a golf game your spouse can’t say “no” to. The second annual Clarendon County Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament will be held at Shannon Greens Golf Club on Friday, Oct. 26, 2007.

All proceeds from the tournament will help fund the Chamber of Commerce’s many projects that benefit its members and Clarendon County each year.

“In addition to helping our chamber, we get to help one of our members, Shannon Greens Golf Course,” said Kirk Salek, chair of the Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament.

The tournament will feature four person teams playing in a captain choice format limited to 22 teams. The cost is $75 per player.

“Sponsorship of holes is available this year as well,” said Salek. “Its $100 to sponsor a hole and can go up. We are looking to get as many as we can get.” Hole sponsors get advertising on the tee with signs.

The tournament has changed some from last year Salek mentioned.

“We have tee gifts for everyone. Registration this year also includes a steak dinner, something different from the pulled pork we had last year,” said Salek.

The tournament will also feature a brand new Taylormade Burner driver for a door prize. Players will also have the option to buy mulligans to replace a bad shot.

Salek said that he hopes that area golfers will come help the chamber and check out the recent improvements to Shannon Greens (the former Clarendon Golf and Country Club.

“The Shannon Green owners have made a large investment changing and upgrading the course over the past year,” Salek said. “I encourage golfers to come check out the improvements, have some fun and help a great cause.”

Anyone who wishes to sign up to play can contact the Chamber at 435-4405. The entry deadline is Oct. 22.
