Frezel M. Wheeler
Frezel Magellan Wheeler, 94, widower of Caddie Estelle Cooper Wheeler, died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center in Sumter.
Born July 6, 1913, in Turbeville, he was a son of the late George Washington Wheeler and Jane Lucinda Virginia Dickey. He received his formal education in the public schools of Clarendon County. He was an active member of Hickory Grove Freewill Baptist Church, serving as a deacon, a trustee superintendent of the Sunday school, founder and president of the Gospel Choir and a member of the Masonic Lodge.
Three brothers and five sisters preceded him in death.
His profession was in farming, gardening and plastering.
Survivors include one son, Rudolph Wheeler; one daughter, Patricia A. Cooper McFadden; daughter-in-law, Annette B. Wheeler; two grandchildren; three nieces reared in the home, Dorothea Ford of Turbeville, Ivory Burgess of New Zion and Jenetha Burgess of Baltimore, Md.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007, at Hickory Grove Freewill Baptist Church, Hickory Grove Church Road, Turbeville, with the Rev. Ronnie McFadden, pastor, officiating, Elder Kenneth Gibson, presiding, assisting the Rev. Richard Baxter, the Rev. Carnell Hampton, the Rev. M.R. Singletary and Minister W.J. Witherspoon.
Burial was in the churchyard cemetery.
Masonic rites were held Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2007 at the Hayes F. and LaNelle J. Samuels Sr. Memorial Chapel.
Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning was in charge of the arrangements.
