Mildred Lewis

Mildred DuBose Haley Lewis, 84, died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2007, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach.

Born Dec. 24, 1922, in Manning, she was a daughter of the late Joe Swaneeville and Lottie Ridgeway DuBose. She was a member of Liberty Free Will Baptist Church. She was first married to the late Charlie Theophilus Haley and then to the late Dr. James Jefferson Lewis Jr.

Surviving are four daughters, Eleanor Haley Selph of Myrtle Beach, Hazel Haley DuPre of Manning, Mavis Haley Holliday of Sumter and Brenda Haley Flora of Columbia; a brother, Richard J. DuBose of Manning; a sister, Josephine DuBose Drake of St. Matthews; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Dalmar Charlie Haley; a grandson, Daren Alvin Holliday; four brothers; and three sisters.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007, in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home in Manning with the Rev. Bennie Turner and the Rev. David Carlson officiating.

Burial followed in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Bobby Gilbert Selph Jr., Joseph Haley Selph, Joel Bennett DuPre II, Terry Badger DuPre, Daren Alvin Holliday Jr., Joseph Wade Flora, Jeffery Britton Hansen, Brandon Cory Hansen and Bradley Austin Hansen.

Honorary pallbearers will be Richard J. DuBose, Ranny I. Stephens, Heyward Alvin Holliday, Jeffery Allen Hansen and Coltyn Joel DuPre.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association, Midstate S.C. Chapter, P.O. Box 7044, Columbia, S.C. 29202-7044.

Stephens Funeral Home and Crematory of Manning was in charge of arrangements.
