Dorothy H. Jenkins
Dorothy Heyward Jenkins, 78, departed this life on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007, at her home.
Born April 9, 1929, in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Charles A. Williams and Carlotta Durant.
She was a caring, loving person and enjoyed life to the fullest.
She leaves to cherish her memories a son, Arthur L. Heyward III of the home; six grandchildren, Rashad, Kimberly and Derell Green, all of Sumter, Reginald C. Heyward of Orlando, Fla., Ashley C. Heyward of Port Orange, Fla., and Christopher Gerard C. Heyward of Los Angeles, Calif.; seven great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Yulaundea Heyward (Chuck) of Florence; a goddaughter, Joy Wilson; special friends, Larry and Lillie Wilson, Mary Billie and Kattie Guilyard; and many other special friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Cheryl D. Heyward; and a son, Charles “Chuck” R. Heyward.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2007, from Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church in Sumter, with Senior Pastor Marion H. Newton, presiding, Pastor Velda Rucker, eulogist, assisted by Minister Dorothy Maple, Minister Roosevelt Williams and Pastor David Pugh.
Burial was in Hillside Memorial Park, Sumter.
Floral and pallbearers were family and friends.
Williams Funeral Home Inc. was in charge of the arrangements.
