Bobby Evans Sr.
Bobby Evans Sr., 77, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007, at Carolinas Hospital System in Florence.
Born April 30, 1930, in the Foreston community of Clarendon County, he was a son of the late Ophelia Evans and the late Frank Evans. He received his formal education in the public schools of Manning. He was joined in holy matrimony to Cora King and to this union five children were born. He later met and married Rosa Lee Brailsford.
He was predeceased by a sister, Beulah Evans Singleton.
Those left to grow from his love and cherish his memory are: Cora King Evans of Manning and Rosa Evans of the home; three sons, the Rev. Emmanuel (Diane) Evans, Archie Evans and Bobby Evans, all of Manning; two daughters, Edna Evans of Manning and Gladys Evans of Sumter; four sisters, Helen Dozier, Frankie Leftwich, Lue Bertha Evans and Evelyn Evans, all of New York; two brothers, Nathan Evans of Manning and Frank Roy Evans of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two brothers-in-law, Matthew Dozier and Joseph Singleton, both of Manning; six stepchildren, Gregory (Mary) Brailsford, Lindell (Janice) Wright of Manning, Doris (Buster) Bennett, Tyrone (Celestine) Wright of the home, Otis Wright and Joyce (Albert) Smith of Sumter; nine grandchildren, Jennifer, Dequan, Trevon, Daneshia (Darius), Latoya (Ray), Tyrone (Heather) all of Manning, Latonya (Jamie), Deserick and Lekenla of the home; four great-grandchildren, Shanisty, Atajamil, Jamie and Zaykyan, all of the home; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Evans were held on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2007, at William Chapel Christian Church in Manning with the Rev. Emmanuel Evans officiating.
Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Summerton Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements.
