Thelma H. Barrett

Thelma Hazelton Barrett died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007, at Windsor Manor Nursing Center in Silver after an extended illness.

Born in Clarendon County, she was the daughter of the late Leila Kirven Hazelton and William Hazelton.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Roscoe, George, and Ingram Hazelton; and five sisters, Anna Jane Edwards, Allie McDowell, Carrie Hickson, Cheney McEliken and Ethel Fulwood.

Survivors include two nephews, William Ben McElveen of Sumter and Christopher Edwards of Lynchburg; and two nieces, Stella Mae Scott of Fort Pierce, Fla., and McZena Green of Baltimore, Md.

A memorial service was held on Monday, Oct. 8, 2007, in the chapel of Sumter Funeral Service Inc. with the Rev. Larry C. Weston officiating.

Sumter Funeral Service Inc. was in charge of the arrangements.
