Alzheimer’s Support Poker Run a huge success
By Cathy Gilbert
The Lake Marion Alzheimer’s Family Support Group presented its inaugural Motorcycle Poker Run on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007 and it was a huge success.
The beautiful fall day began with registration at noon at the Clarendon County Judicial Center parking lot. A big turnout brought in $20 per rider and $5 per passenger with all proceeds going to the Alzheimer’s Memory Walk which will be held this Saturday, in Manning on Oct. 13, 2007 at the Council on Aging.
After registration the riders and their passengers took off on a course that took them around Lake Marion, collecting playing cards for a chance to form the best hand and win prizes.
Many thanks go to Lakevue Landing, Lamar Kennedy and Manning IGA for providing food. Thanks also go to Johnny and Von Corbett and Quality Printers for their support as well as Lyles Express, Taw Caw Tackle, Goat Island Restaurant and Lounge, Ricki D’s, Dr. George Jones, Bill and Polly Waggoner and “The French Hens,” Joann Corbett and Jane Redman.
Hundreds of Manning residents will join the fight against Alzheimer’s disease at the annual Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk this Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Council on Aging. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the walk begins at 9 a.m.
Come out and enjoy a beautiful autumn morning for a great cause.
