Lois Johnson Hughes Files, 85, died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007, at Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia.

Born Nov. 14, 1921, in Gloverville, she was a daughter of the late Norman Sidney and Sally Bell Baker Johnson. She was first married to the late John G. Hughes and then to the late William Rolfe Files. She was owner and operator of the Summerton Diner from 1967 until her retirement in 1986.

Surviving are a daughter, Lynnelle H. Blackwell of Myrtle Beach; a son, Gary Ben (Joyce) Hughes of Summerton and Columbia; a brother, N.S. Johnson Jr. of Aiken; a sister, Eloise Pennington Perkins of Beulah; three grandchildren, John and Michael Buvid and Bonnie Felder; and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007, in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home in Manning with the Rev. Rob Pierce officiating.

A private family interment will be held at a later date.

Stephens Funeral Home and Crematory of Manning was in charge of the arrangements.
