Alfred J. Floyd Sr.

Alfred Jessie Floyd Sr., 82, widower of Dorothy Thompson Floyd, died Saturday, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

Born in Turbeville, he was the son of the late Mahoney Floyd and Edith Elizabeth Morris Floyd.

Floyd was a member of Swan Lake Presbyterian Church and former member of Lemira Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the Woodmen of the World. He was retired from the city of Sumter.

Surviving are one son, Alfred J. Floyd Jr. and wife, Melanie, of Mount Pleasant; one daughter, Cindy Floyd Gailey and husband, Michael, of Asheville, N.C.; a brother, Hinson Floyd of Georgetown; a sister, Inez Mills of Florida; and four grandchildren, Rachel Gailey, Andrew Gailey, Trey Floyd and Brooks Floyd.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Janis Elizabeth Floyd.

Funeral Services were Monday in the chapel of Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home. Burial followed in Evergreen Memorial Park.

Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home & Crematory was in charge of the arrangements.
