Inez A. Herlong
Inez Anderson Herlong, 91, died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007, at her daughter’s home in Rock Hill. She was in the company and care of her family, who were assisted by the Hospice organization.
Born July 1, 1916, in Kershaw County, she was the daughter of the late Noah and Lavenia Branham Anderson. She was the widow of Henry Keller Herlong, who in 1953 founded Manning Tractor Co., a franchised John Deere dealership. She was a member of The Presbyterian Church at Manning and First Presbyterian Church of Rock Hill. Mrs. Herlong moved to Rock Hill in 1994 to live near her two daughters.
Surviving are two daughters, Shirley Herlong (Coty) Fishburne and her husband, and Gay Herlong (David) Hoffman, of Rock Hill; three sons, Henry Keller (Rita) Herlong Jr. of Salem, Ore., Robert Walter (Pat) Herlong of Atlanta, Ga., and William Gregg (Lynn) Herlong, of Manning; a sister, Jessie Anderson of Columbia; eight granddaughters, Deanne Herlong Nunn and Heidi Herlong Huff, both of Tulsa, Okla., Kristine Herlong Varn of Clinton, Patricia Herlong Dunlap of Columbia, Courtney Louise Herlong and Danielle Blair Herlong, both of Manning, Anne Celeste Fishburne of Charleston and Mary Cotesworth Fishburne of New York, N.Y.; and four great-grandsons.
Funeral services were held Monday in The Presbyterian Church at Manning with the Rev. Dr. William J. Holmes officiating. Burial followed in the Manning Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Toy McCord, Bennie Keels, Kervin Whack, Bill McKenzie, Vikki Brogdon, Robert Strunk and David Koon.
