Robert L. Sandifer

Robert Lawrence Sandifer, 74, husband of Louise Taylor Sandifer, died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2007, at Regency Hospital in Florence.

Born in Frankfort, Ky., he was a son of the late Bruce Dallas Sandifer and the late Viola Bell New Sandifer. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and was retired from Civil Service at Shaw Air Force Base. He was a lifetime member of the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of the VFW and the Elks Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Louise Sandifer of Sumter; a son, Robert Stewart “Bobby” Sandifer Sr. of Summerton; two grandsons, Robert Stewart Sandifer Jr. and Michael Lawrence Sandifer, both of Orangeburg; three step-grandchildren, Marc, Christian and Taylor Watford; a brother, Ralph (Effie) Sandifer of Sumter; three stepbrothers, Roy Lee Clark, Joe Clark and Jack Burgess, all of Kentucky; an adopted grandson, Richard Morgan; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007, in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel.

Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter was in charge of arrangements.
