Mary D. Robinson

OXON HILL, Md. – Mary Delores Robinson, 44, widow of Willie Robinson, died Aug. 20, 2007, at Washington Hospital Center, Washington, D.C.

Born May 26, 1963, in Sumter, she was a daughter of Naomi Moody and Junior (Annie Mae) Diggs. She attended the public schools in Sumter County. At an early age, she moved to Washington, D.C., where she was employed with Government Printing Press.

Survivors include her parents; sisters, Yvonne (Michael) Wright of Rembert, Catherine Moody of Horatio and Valerie (Robert) Thomas of Sumter; other siblings, Martha (Eric) Davis of Borden, Delores (Albertis) Adams of Summerton, Mamie (Melvin) Bennett of Dalzell, Constance (Irvin) Gilmore of Rembert, June Skinner of Pinewood and Robert (Jesse Mae) Diggs of North Carolina; three stepchildren, Chante (Douglas) Whitley, Timothy and Toboris Robinson, all of Washington, D.C.; a special friend, Virginia McNeal; 10 nieces; nine nephews; eight aunts; three uncles; a host of extended aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Oliver (Mary Alice) Moody; paternal grandparents, June (Mary Ellen) Diggs; two brothers, John L. Moody Sr. and James Diggs; four aunts; and an uncle.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, Aug. 30, 2007, at High Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. E.W. Palmer, pastor, presiding, assisted by Minister Juanita Dinkins, eulogist, the Rev. Melvin Mack and the Rev. Allen Conyers.

Burial was in the church cemetery.

Job’s Mortuary Inc. of Sumter was in charge of arrangements.
