Alice McKnight

Alice Johnson Blanding McKnight, 92, died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2007, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

Born in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Isaac Johnson and the late Rachel Johnson. She was twice married, first to the late Sam Blanding and then to the late Timothy McKnight. She was a retired home health assistant with the State of New York.

Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy B. (Onless) Lemon of Sumter; a stepdaughter, Sheila McKnight of New York; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; four sisters; and six brothers.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, four sisters and a grandchild.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2007, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses on Lynam Road in Sumter with Brother William Fullard and Brother Jonnie Morgan officiating.

Burial was in the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery near Summerton.

Memorials may be made to Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, West Congregation, 100 Lynam Road, Sumter, SC 29154.

Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter was in charge of arrangements.
