Ambrose Johnson Jr.
PINEWOOD – Ambrose Johnson Jr. entered into eternal rest on Saturday, Aug. 25, 2007, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Born in Clarendon County on Oct. 18, 1936, he was the son of the late Ambrose Johnson Sr. and Ella Singleton Johnson.
He was educated in the public schools of Clarendon County. He worked many years as a security guard before he retired.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories, two brothers, Wallace (Marlene) Johnson and Preston (Mimi) Johnson, both of Claremont, Pa.; two sisters, Deloris Brailsford of Baltimore, Md., and Evelyn Johnson of Harrisburg, Pa.; one additional sister-in-law, Caroline Johnson of Pinewood; a close and dear friend, Willie Canty of Pinewood; special cousins, Monica (Kevin) Wells, Annie Green, Terry Nelson and Stacy Pugh, all of Pinewood; a devoted friend, Gardenia Pugh of Pinewood; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six siblings, Eugene Johnson, Frank Johnson, Love Johnson, Inez Felder, Margaree Johnson, and Katherine Davneport.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Sept. 3, 2007, at Zion Hill AME Church in Pinewood, with the Rev. Richard McKnight, pastor, the Rev. Sam Benjamin, the Rev. James Rouse and Minister Ella Holland.
Burial followed in the Manning Cemetery.
Community Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
