Gwendolyn G. Canty

Gwendolyn Gibson Canty, 36, wife of Kenneth Canty, died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2007, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital, Manning.

Born Sept. 13, 1970, she was the daughter of Bernell Gibson Sr. and Jannie Plowden Gibson. She received her formal education at Manning High School. She attended Fellowship Baptist Church for Sunday school and worship services.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Canty of Manning; parents, Bernell Sr. and Jannie Plowden Gibson of Manning; two sons, Brandon and Tyquan of the home; one sister, Sandy (John Franklin) Stowers of Manning; three brothers, Bernell “B.J.” Gibson Jr., Jayden Woodard and Bobby Wright, all of Manning; and paternal grandmother, Virginia Gibson of Manning.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Wanda and Tasha Gibson.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2007, at Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church in Manning, with the Rev. Jonathan Anderson Sr., pastor, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Slyvester Hicks and Minister Ethel Lemon.

Burial was in the churchyard cemetery.

Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning was in charge of the arrangements.
