Thomas M. Bradford Sr.
COLUMBIA – Thomas Moultrie Bradford Sr., 86, husband of Arlonial DeLaine Bradford of Manning, died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2007, at Dorn VA Medical Center.
Born July 16, 1921, in Camden, he was a son of the late Rev. Benjamin F. Bradford and Lottie C. Johnson Bradford. He attended the public schools of Charleston and received his college education from Allen University, Columbia. He served in the U.S. Army, both at home and in Germany, during World War II and was honorably discharged.
Survivors include one son, Thomas Moultrie (Sonya) Bradford of Columbia; two daughters, Arlonial Yvonne (Derrick) Jackson and Carletta Yvette (Jerome) Brown, both of Columbia; one daughter-in-law, Victoria Bradford of Vancouver, Wash.; reared in the home, Brent James Addison and Serwah Armah-Koranleng; two sisters, Charlotte Cooper and Flora Dixon, both of Columbia; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Benjamin L. Bradford; one foster daughter, Juanita LeGrand; five sisters; and four brothers.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2007, at Fleming and DeLaine Chapel in Manning, with Pastor Baba D. Jackson, eulogist, and the Revs. Melvin Capers, Lula DeLaine and Mack McClam.
Burial was in Liberty Hill AME Church cemetery, Summerton.
Fleming and DeLaine Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
