Brenda E. Godwin
LYNCHBURG –Brenda Ray Evans Godwin, age 50, died August 7, 2007 in a Columbia hospital after an illness.
Born in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Ellison Lafayette Evans, Jr. and Sue Virginia Hill Evans. She was a graduate of Bob Jones University with a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education and religion. She was employed by Farmers Telephone Cooperative as a long distance operator and by Clarendon School District No. 3 as a teaching assistant. She was a member of the Turbeville Southern Methodist Church where she was a member of the Sunday school; was a member of the Lois Jackson WMS; was a member of the church’s Youth Committee; and worked with the Vacation Bible School. Mrs. Godwin was also involved in the PTO at Walker Gamble Elementary where she served as Past President and in various other offices.
She is survived by her husband, James Michael Godwin; a daughter, Kristen Godwin; two sons, James Godwin and Matthew Godwin all of Lynchburg; three sisters, Rose (Kevin) Kelly of Aiken, Linda Evans of Lynchburg, and Polly (Rev. Hank) Fanning of Orangeburg; and two brothers, Rev. Ellison L. (Bobby Sue) Evans, III of Turbeville and Roland (Pam) Evans of Summerville.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Aug. 10, 2007 at the Turbeville Southern Methodist Church.
Burial followed in the church cemetery.
