James M. Berry Sr.

James Michael Berry Sr., age 57, beloved husband of 37 years to Julie Floyd Berry, died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2007, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

He was born in San Antonio, Texas, a son of Christine Jordan Berry and the late Clarence Berry. He was educated in the Sumter school system and retired as a truck driver. He enjoyed long-distance truck driving and took great joy in spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of New Calvary Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are one son, James Michael (Heather) Berry Jr. of Turbeville; one daughter, Joyce Berry (Timmy) Mays of Summerton; five grandchildren, Matt Mays, Tyler Mays, Malorie Berry, Mikayla Berry and Madison Berry; three brothers, Charles (Debra) Berry, Ronnie (Maggie) Berry, and David (Sharon) Berry, all of Sumter; and one sister, Linda (Heyward) Poole, of Sumter.

Funeral services were held on Friday, Aug. 10, 2007, at the Bullock Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Sammy Geddings officiating.

Burial followed in the Sumter Cemetery.
