Eddie E. Washington

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, N.J. – Eddie Earl Washington, widower of Gertrude Pack Washington, died Monday, July, 23, 2007, in the Arista at Cedar Oak Care Center in South Plainfield, N.J.

Born in Alcolu, he was a son of the late Earl Washington and Pearl Pew Washington. He received his formal education in the public schools of Clarendon County.

He was baptized at an early age at Greenhill Baptist Church, Alcolu. He was an honorable discharged veteran serving in the Army during World War II. He retired from the New York Housing Authority with 26 years of devoted service.

Survivors include a son, Earl (Nancy) Wilson of Piscataway, N.J.; two grandchildren; one aunt, Ida Bell of Baltimore; several nieces; nephews; sister-in-law; brothers-in-law; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 28, 2007, in the Hayes F. and Lanelle Samuels Sr. Memorial Chapel in Manning.

Burial followed in the Greenhill Missionary Baptist Church cemetery.

Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning was in charge of the arrangements.
