Sudie L. Alleyne

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Sudie Lawson Alleyne, 85, died Thursday, July 19, 2007, at Interfaith Hospital in Brooklyn.

Born Sept. 21, 1921, in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Peter Lawson and the late Mae Boyd Lawson. She received her education in the public schools of South Carolina. She later moved to New York, where she worked in the nursing field and as a domestic assistant. She was a member of Christ Fellowship Baptist Church in New York.

She was predeceased by a sister, Alma Small of Brooklyn, who passed away on July 21, 2007.

Those left to grow from her love are a son, Ernest Lawson of West Babylon, N.Y.; a granddaughter, Charel Broodie; an aunt, Victoria Freeson of Brooklyn; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Ms. Alleyne were held on Friday, July 27, 2007, in the Chapel of Summerton Funeral Service with the Rev. Daniel Bennett officiating.

Burial followed in the Elizabeth Baptist Church cemetery.

Summerton Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements.
