Henrietta P. Richardson

Henrietta Palmer Richardson, 94, died July 5, 2007, at her residence.

Born July 9, 1912, she was a daughter of the late Hargar Palmer and Issac Palmer. She attended the public schools of Clarendon County. In her youth, she relocated to Newark, N.J., where she met and married the late Lamar Richardson.

Mrs. Richardson is predeceased by a daughter, Jessie Mae Bennett; a granddaughter, Cassandra Bennett; two sisters, Elizabeth P. Brailsford and Cecile Johnson; three brothers, McKinly Green, Willie Palmer and Charlie Palmer; and a son-in-law, Alonza Bennett Sr.

Those left to grow from her legacy of love are a daughter, Victoria (Jose) Ortiz of the home; a son, Bennett (Georgianna) Richardson of Newark; two adopted children, Audrey Johnson of Newark and Willie (Betty) Richardson of Swansea; 18 additional children, Sarah (Author) Jones, Henrietta (James) Tindal, Hattie (Lincoln) Jonah, Richard (Ann) Lawson, Thomas (Bee) Palmer, Thomas (Magarett) Palmer, Georgianna Johnson, Sandra Maddox, Janice (Junior) Martin, Patricia (Leroy) Richardson, Harold (Lun) Johnson, William (Katie) Palmer, Windell (Mary) Palmer, Eddie Lee (Margaret) Palmer, Robert (Magg) Palmer, Russell (Debbie) Johnson, John Johnson and Emanuel Johnson; 11 grandchildren, Latinya (Lamont) Ortiz-Bossie of the home, Alonza (Maggie) Bennett of Summerton, Walter (Lawanda) Bennett of Columbia, George Bennett of Bennettsville, N.C., Benjamin (Nikki) Bennett of North Carolina, Jessica Bennett and Jenetta Bennett, both of Spartanburg, Dakia Emanuel Richardson of Charlotte, N.C., Rashan (Tasha) Richardson of Newark, Tyisha Johnson and Jaz Johnson, both of Newark, 56 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren; her caregivers, Geraldine (Ernie) Calloway, Buster “Bubblegum” Bennett and Ricky Nelson; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Friday, Juy 13, 2007, at Oaks AME Church in the North Santee area of Summerton with the Rev. Nathaniel Bookhardt officiating.

Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Summerton Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements.
