Betty Jo H. Hill

Betty Jo Hanna Hill, 76, widow of Jesse L. Hill Sr., died Thursday, July 12, 2007, at her home in Summerton.

Born Jan. 25, 1931, in Florence County, she was a daughter of the late John Martin and Merty Lyerly Hanna. She was a member of Grace Christian Fellowship Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Marilyn Williams of Summerton; two stepdaughters, Nancy Boyd of Watkins Glen, N.Y., and Jean Carter of Brooks, Ga.; two sons, Kenneth Allen Evans of Lyman and Louis Derwin Evans of Summerton; a stepson, Jesse Lee Hill Jr. of Columbia; sisters, Mary Olive Coker of Johnsonville and Verna Parente of Milford, Mass.; two brothers, Charlton Hanna of Hanahan and John G. Hanna of Cleveland, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Monday, July 16, 2007, in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home in Manning with the Rev. Mike Murdoch officiating.

Burial followed in the Bethlehem United Methodist Church cemetery.

Pallbearers were Allen Way, Job Greenall, Tommy Parrott, Brandon Shinoski, Eric Newman and Tommy Roark.

Stephens Funeral Home and Crematory of Manning was in charge of arrangements.
