Margaret C. Way
Margaret Chewning Way, formerly of Pinewood, widow of her husband of 66 years, James P. Way, died Thursday, July 5, 2007, in Lake Marion Nursing Facility in Summerton.
Born Aug. 7, 1923, in Pinewood, she was a daughter of the late Leland F. and Alma Felder Chewning. She was a member of Lake Marion Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Beverly (Marshall) Morris of Sumter and Betty Lynn (Richard) Bradford of Homerville, Ga.; a son, James P. “Buddy” (Susie) Way of Pinewood; a brother, Rhinehart (Billie) Chewning of Holly Hill; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Katherine Chewning McLeod.
Funeral services were held on Monday, July 9, 2007, in the chapel of Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home in Sumter, with the Rev. Larry Kennedy officiating.
Burial followed in Evergreen Memorial Park in Sumter.
Pallbearers were grandsons, Johnny Morris, Chad Morris, O’Shea Morris, Richard Koontz, Will Therrell and Whitney Ray.
Honorary pallbearers are nephews and nephews-in-law.

Stephens Funeral Home andCrematory of Manning was in charge of arrangements.
