Stella D. McKenzie

Stella Dingle McKenzie, age 78, widow of Mack Roy McKenzie, died Monday, July 2, 2007, at Carolinas Hospital System, Florence.

Born Sept. 15, 1928, in the Freetown section of Clarendon County, she was the daughter of the late Talmadge Dingle and Emma Pearson Dingle.

At an early age, she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and joined White Oak AME Church, where she was a lifelong member. She served on the choir, stewardess board and mother of the church. She received her education in the Bob John School, Davis Station.

She is survived by one daughter, Modestine McKenzie of Manning; one grandchild, LoDoshia Sinkler of Manning; two sisters, Mary Ellis and Maybell (Roosevelt) Wright, both of Manning; and three brothers, Levi Dingle and Willie “Albert” Dingle, both of Charleston, and Moses (Dorothy) Dingle of Manning.

She was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 7, 2007, at Triumph the Church Kingdom of God of Christ, located in the Davis Station community, Manning, with the Rev. Linda G. Conyers, pastor, officiating, assisted by the Revs. Mattie Mouzon, David Lawson and O’Donald Dingle and Evangelist Rebecca York.

Burial was in the Carolina-Johnson Cemetery.

Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning was in charge of the arrangements.
