Charlotte G. Butler
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Charlotte Gause Butler, age 85, died June 27, 2007, at Broward Nursing and Rehabilitation, Fort Lauderdale.
She was born Sept. 17, 1922, in Sardinia. She was the wife of the late John W. Scott Sr. and the daughter of the late Saul Gause and Louise Burgess Scott. She received her education at the Melina Parochial Schools. At an early age, she joined Howard Chapel AME Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Eloise Butler Harrison of Fort Lauderdale; five sons, John (Francie) Scott, Wesley (Martha) Butler Jr., all of New Zion, Bobby Butler of Alcolu, McNeil Butler of Fort Lauderdale and Mack Butler of Fort Myers, Fla.; two sisters, Fannie Harvin of Sumter and Hattie Fulton of Timmonsville; seven grandchildren reared as her own, Mary Lee, Direne, Johnny, Ella, Joe, Tommy and Cindy; 24 grandchildren; 73 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by nine children, four brothers, and one sister.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 7, 2007, at Howard Chapel AME Church, Old Manning Road, New Zion, with the Rev. Alfred Bradley, pastor, officiating, assisting the Rev. Jerome McCray.
Burial followed in the churchyard cemetery.
Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning was in charge of the arrangements.
