Lillian Yates Strickland Morley

Lillian Yates Strickland Morley, 78, died Saturday, June 27, 2009, at a Florence hospital after an illness.

Born in Clarendon County, she was the daughter of the late Silas “P.” Yates and Maggie Sue Victoria Parker. She was retired from Superior Cleaners and was a member of Pine Dale Pentecostal Holiness Church and Ladies Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Johnnie R. Strickland; second husband, Timothy C. Morley; four brothers, William E. Yates, Silas Barnwell Yates, Raymond R. Yates, Larry P. Yates.

Surviving are a daughter, Johnnie L. Tomlinson of Turbeville; a son, Charles R. (Ann) Strickland of Turbeville; a sister, Christine Y. Bennett of Turbeville; two sister-in-laws, Bess P. Yates of Lake City, Rhunette Yates of Olanta; two brothers, Hoyt R. (Phyllis) Yates of Turbeville, Elbert K. (Cheryl) Yates of Hemmingway; a grandson, James C. “Jay” (Teia) Tomlinson III; and two great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Brant Tomlinson.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at Pine Dale Pentecostal Holiness Church in Turbeville.

Burial followed in the new First Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family request that memorials be sent to Sumter County SPCA, 1140 S Guignard Dr., Sumter, S.C. 29150.

Floyd Funeral Home of Olanta was in charge of the arrangements.
