Alonza McKnight

Alonza McKnight died on Thursday, June 18, 2009, at Palmetto Health Richland, Columbia.

Alonza was born Jan. 12, 1961, in Summerton, to Susie Mae McKnight. He was later taken and reared by Sammie Lee and Sudie Gibson Ragin. Daddy and Mama Ragin provided for their children a home where Christ was the center. Alonza joined Liberty Hill AME Church at an early age and eagerly accepted the responsibilities the church gave him. He was a happy young man who enjoyed life and living.

He leaves to mourn his passing: Daddy and Mama Ragin and his birth mother; four brothers, Edward McKnight of Manning, Carl McKnight, Randy McKnight and James Watson, all of Baltimore, Md.; and two sisters, Lillian McKnight and Wanda McKnight, both of Baltimore.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, June 25, 2009, at the Historic Liberty Hill AME Church, Summerton, with the pastor, the Rev. Dr. Leslie J. Lovett, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Edythe DeLaine.

Interment followed in the Liberty Hill Church cemetery.

Fleming and Delaine Funeral Home and Chapel of Manning was in charge of the arrangements.
