It was a full year of fun and service for the Girl Scouts of troops 329 and 353.

Troop 329, consisting of Brownie and Junior Girl Scouts started their scouting year off with a camping trip in September.

October brought a picnic bike ride and hike. In November, the troop attended a movie together and made holiday crafts in December.

The New Year had Troop 329 bowling in January. They walked to Subway in February and worked at Keeper of the Wild in March. They also served at the Scottish Festival in Sumter in March. April marked their community service month and May brought the Court of Awards, a special annual event for Girl Scouts.

Scouts Kishona Avant and Natasha Rivera received their Bronze Awards and have now bridged up to Cadettes.

The Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors of Troop 353 had an equally busy year.

In September, they also went camping and went saltwater fishing in October.

They chaperoned the younger Girl Scouts of Troop 329 on their October hike.

In November, the troop went holiday shopping together in Charleston.

Members of Troop 353 took a flight school lesson in January as well as a CSI course at the Clarendon County Sheriff’s office that month.

A troop social was held at Mariachi’s in February and they also worked at the Scottish Festival in Sumter in March.

The girls took a cookie class at the home of Cindy Vincent in April and also took another saltwater fishing trip that month. They attended a rodeo in May and took a three-day trip in June.

At their Court of Awards ceremony, Jaumonique Harrison, Brianna Dozier, Kayla Story, Christina Garris and Alexis Cantey all received their Silver Awards.

Caitlin Thigpen received the Medal of Honor for saving a person’s life.
