Elizabeth W. Hill
Elizabeth White Hill, 94, widow of Herbert S. Hill, died Tuesday, June 5, 2007.
Born Jan. 18, 1913, in Sumter County, she was a daughter of the late Johnson Knox White and the late Annie Elizabeth Mitchell White. She was a lifelong member of St. James Lutheran Church and was retired from the City of Sumter Water Department.
Survivors include two sons, Herbert (Jackie) Hill of Plano, Texas, and Billy (Kitty) Hill of Suwanee, Ga.; three daughters, Nancy (Emery) McElveen, Barbara (Robert) Baker and Sara (Freddie) Baker, all of Sumter; 10 grandchildren, Robbie Baker, John Baker, Pam Price and Paula Bledsoe, all of Sumter, Ray McElveen of Camden, Chris Baker of Missouri, Mike Baker of Lugoff, Stacy Archer of Gainesville, Ga., Beth Weiderhold of Marietta, Ga., and Debbie Lambert of Texas; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; nephews, John “Buck” Lewis of Sunset Beach, N.C., Carlisle White and Randle Hill, both of Sumter; and nieces, Annie Laurie McLeod of Paxville and Jenny Curtis of Sumter.
Funeral services were held on Friday, June 8, 2007, in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Dr. Tony Metze and the Rev. Elizabeth Platts officiating.
Burial followed in the Sumter Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Robby Baker, Chris Baker, Mike Baker, Ray McElveen, Wilber Watson and Will Baker.
Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Phillip H. Brandt and Dr. W. Strat Stavrou.
