The Clarendon Scene ... as seen in Clarendon

Manning High School teacher and coach Kay Young served as both organizer and chaperone for the 2007 edition of Project Graduation. This is the 19th year that the event has been staged as an effort to keep exuberant grads off the roads and safe.   With more than 130 of their classmates waiting for them in the background, Manning High grads write thank you notes to Clarendon merchants whose donations allowed each participant to go home with a little extra graduation money. The all-night lock in was part of the 19th annual Project Graduation. See story on Page 1.

Manning resident George Mauss, left, was recently honored by the William Jennings Bryan/Dorn Veterans Hospital for 11 years of dedicated service as a volunteer. Mause has clocked in over 5,700 hours in serving the veterans at the Columbia facility.   The future home of the White family was on the move last Thursday morning. This house, which was located near the outfield of the Laurence Manning Academy girls softball diamond, was purchased by Joe and Gail Pelfry and then moved to a location off of Plowden Mill Road. The fixer-upper will eventually be the home of Richard and Crystal White, parents of the Pelfrey’s grandchildren Dakota, Mason and Jody Madison. Two rooms had to be removed from the house to make it small enough to make the move across town.
